While this is sort of the norm for free phone games, I would have definitely preferred to buy the game outright instead of having to wait a half-minute just to get back to playing another game or two of solitaire. The three Microsoft phone games I know of are guilty of throwing ads at you every five minutes or so.

This at least reveals that someone at Microsoft knows full well how to properly create difficulty curves and put some care into creating this game. The Star Club challenges are a good way to feel some sense of progression when you've done what you could with the daily challenges, but some of the more difficult challenges are too much for me to handle - which is to be expected.
I can't say I'm a fan of the 12-month requirement for one of the achievements, but changing the date (which hasn't worked properly for me) or buying $2USD of premium allows a player to access any daily challenge that's already taken place to speed things up - and it gets rid of the ads. However, the rules were stashed away at the lower end of the game's side menu on the home page, and because I didn't notice this early on, I had to learn the rules by looking them up online.Ĭhallenges and daily challenges make a return, which is to be expected. If nothing else, I'd consider Microsoft Solitaire a learning experience more than anything else, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Included alongside the classic Klondike are Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid, and TriPeaks, which I was able to learn through this game. There are surely ways to mess up solitaire, but Microsoft knew not to do that here.
I'll be mentioning the other two on occasion as I talk about Microsoft Solitaire. I've had some experience with all three Microsoft games (that I know of) that one can earn achievements with while using an iPhone: Wordament, Sudoku, and Solitaire. Since this is an achievement site that may be a problem for those looking for a quick and easy completion.Īll in all, Microsoft Solitaire Collection is a fun and simple game that keeps you entertained for a while, and the best part is that it's free! I'm going to give it a 4/5 stars. Three achievements at the very minimum take literally 8 months to unlock. All the achievements are simple and straightforward, although buggy at times, but there are achievements that take an incredibly long time to unlock. One glaring flaw for me unfortunately is the achievement list. You may even find yourself addicted to the game for a little while like myself. If you are looking for a calm and relaxing game to play throughout the day then this is the game for you.

While the game may not be perfect, it doesn't have any major drawbacks that would make anyone looking to play it not download it. While there may not be any exciting gameplay, Microsoft Solitaire Collection makes up for it with a nice relaxing experience - a refreshing change of pace from the standard shooter games. After playing several games of a certain mode, I found myself glued to the game for a while. There are a variety of unique game modes to choose from - each offering a fun and addicting experience. Microsoft Solitaire Collection is a free-to-play game for Windows 10, in which you play the classic card game, Solitaire.
